The Seven Habits

To help give people an idea of what kinds of behaviors to avoid engaging in to avoid creating negative and toxic relationship, Dr. Glasser created this concept of their being “Seven Deadly Habits” a person should never EVER engage in if they want to keep a relationship strong and meaningful for all parties involved!

The “Seven Deadly Habits” are as follows:

Seven Deadly Habits

  • Criticizing
  • Blaming
  • Complaining
  • Nagging
  • Threatening
  • Punishing
  • Bribing/Rewarding to Control

To further drive home the point, Dr. Glasser then created the “Seven Helping Habits” that should form the foundation of all the relationships and interactions we have in our lives!  These are the habits that we should strive to use to replace the deadly habits in our lives!

Seven Caring Habits

  • Listening
  • Supporting
  • Encouraging
  • Respecting
  • Trusting
  • Accepting
  • Always negotiating disagreements

Looking at the lists of “Deadly” and “Helping” habits, do you agree with Dr. Glasser?

Is there anything you would add or change about the lists?

Please feel free to email will all comments, criticisms and suggestions!
